About the Role

The Company is in search of an Executive Director to lead its mission of preserving and interpreting the rich history, culture, and stories of the Adirondacks. The successful candidate will be responsible for the stewardship, direction, and day-to-day management of the institution, with a strong focus on developing a program of exhibitions, education, and activities that reflect the artistic, historical, and cultural assets of the region. This role involves working closely with the Board of Trustees to create and execute a multi-year strategic plan, ensuring the financial stability and growth of the organization. The Executive Director will also be the primary face of the institution, engaging with the community, building relationships, and leading fundraising efforts. Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should have a proven track record in leading a complex nonprofit institution, preferably within a museum or similar entity. The role requires a leader with a deep commitment to the preservation and best use of collections in research, exhibitions, and educational programming. Experience in strategic planning, financial management, and a successful history in fundraising, including capital campaigns, is essential. The ideal candidate will be a creative and visionary leader, with the ability to inspire and unite staff, and will be politically savvy, resilient, and a creative problem solver. A passion for the Adirondacks and its unique culture, environment, and people is also a key qualification for this role.
