Job Description: Lycée International de Houston (LIH) is seeking an energetic and motivated Spanish Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be a passionate educator who thrives in a multicultural environment, fosters students’ language acquisition and cultural understanding, and contributes to the broader school community. This position involves teaching Spanish across multiple grade levels, including IB Spanish (SL/HL) and/or AP Spanish, following the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards, and preparing students to become global citizens. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Experience teaching Spanish across multiple grade levels (K–12) in an independent, private, or college-preparatory school setting Experience teaching IB Spanish (SL/HL) and/or AP Spanish Native or near-native fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, writing, and listening) Strong knowledge of TEKS standards and advanced language curriculum planning Demonstrated proficiency integrating technology into language instruction Ability to manage multi-level classrooms with students of varying language proficiency Strong professional references attesting to instructional quality and student engagement Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Flexibility to support school life (extracurriculars, advising, language labs, etc.) Legal authorization to work in the United States The Spanish Teacher is a multi-grade and planning-focused position responsible for delivering rigorous, engaging Spanish instruction while supporting curriculum development and program growth. Plan, implement, and assess Spanish instruction aligned with TEKS, across multiple proficiency levels within the same classroom Teach advanced courses, including IB Spanish (SL/HL) and/or AP Spanish, preparing students for external examinations Differentiate instruction for native and non-native speakers Foster language proficiency and cultural understanding through meaningful, interactive learning experiences Contribute to curriculum planning and vertical alignment across grade levels Classroom Management & Student Engagement Create a structured, inclusive, and academically rigorous classroom environment Maintain effective classroom management to support student learning and safety Encourage active participation and student ownership of language learning Collaboration & Community Engagement Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen the Spanish program and share best practices Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and departmental planning Support school-wide events and initiatives that promote bilingualism and multiculturalism Communication & Professional Responsibilities Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and language development Monitor and document student performance and growth Demonstrate high energy, creativity, flexibility, and commitment to student success Physically able to move throughout the classroom and monitor student behavior as needed The Lycée International de Houston School does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin, ethnic or religious beliefs, disability, or any other basis protected by federal, state, or local law in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship, and athletic and other school-administered programs or in its employment practices.
