Position Overview:

The Quality Supervisor/Manager is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the quality function, including quality assurance and quality control laboratory function. This position has supervisory responsibility and oversees direct reports supporting quality systems, laboratory testing, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements applicable to Animal Health nutritional products under 21 CFR Part 507.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide oversight and leadership of the Quality function, including Quality Assurance and Quality Control laboratory activities, and maintaining quality systems.
  • Supervises and develops direct reports, ensuring appropriate training, performance management, and accountability.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including 21 CFR Part 507 Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Food for Animals, as well as FDA and state feed regulations.
  • Oversees development, implementation, and maintenance of the site Food Safety Plans in accordance with 21 CFR Part 507 Subpart C, including leading or supporting Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) responsibilities.
  • Leads or participates in hazard analysis activities, food safety activities, and ensures appropriate preventive controls are implemented and maintained.
  • Ensures compliance with supply chain program requirements under 21 CFR Part 507.
  • Provides oversight of laboratory operations including sampling, testing, specifications, data review, equipment calibration, and product disposition decisions.
  • Reviews and approves quality documentation including procedures, specifications, laboratory methods and forms, master batch reports, and Certificates of Analysis as applicable.
  • Ensures appropriate control, disposition of nonconforming materials and finished products, including investigation, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Coordinates and manages client and regulatory inspections, including FDA and state feed regulatory audits, and leads drafting responses to findings.
  • Develops, monitors, and reports quality system metrics.
  • Ensures labeling compliance with FDA and applicable state feed laws.
  • Supports food safety programs, including recordkeeping, internal audits, regulatory documentation, and maintaining document control systems as needed.
  • Follows all company quality and safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control within Animal Health, animal food, feed, or other regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • PCQI certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and regulatory requirements for animal nutritional products.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
