We are 100% employee-owned, with regional and project offices nationwide. Our transportation practice is seeking a Structural Engineer (Bridges) to join our Kansas City, Missouri office. This opportunity may also be available in our other offices for the right candidate.Our Burns & McDonnell bridge practice is expanding in the Midwest region and is seeking qualified candidates to support our clients on meaningful and challenging projects. This role will serve our bridge department, providing an opportunity to build your career as part of our team, recognized as a regional leader in bridge services. Primary focus would be on structural designs including structural steel, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and foundations of all types. Clients include state DOTs, municipalities, railroads, transit agencies, port authorities and private industrial entities.The Project Manager (Bridges) will lead structural design project teams and play a key role in our seller/doer approach to project delivery. Our ideal candidate is someone who can independently manage all aspects of projects from business development, scope and fee development, staffing plan development, project oversight, quality management and financial performance.Responsibilities Work with a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians to manage bridge projects and complex structural designs.Client development and management. Maintain client relationships and engage in marketing activities such as proposal writing.Contract preparation and negotiation; scope and fee development.Project planning, budgeting, and scheduling; and the establishment of critical project financial objectives and performances.Lead bridge production teams from concept, through the design and construction plan process, adapting structural plans according to budget constraints, design factors and client needs.Mentor and develop staff engineers and interns.Responsible for design quality and accuracy of engineering plans within desired budget and scope. Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.Achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.Responsible for ensuring client satisfaction goals and expectations are met.Makes independent decisions on engineering problems and selects appropriate structural solutions that are cost effective and constructible.Apply theoretical knowledge and technical experience to tackle uncommon and complex structural configurations, while mentoring others in the process.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in civil engineering, with an emphasis in structural engineering. Master’s degree with an emphasis in structural engineering strongly preferred.Minimum of 7 years experience, 15 years preferred, on a variety of engineering projects.The candidate must be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) or on track to take the SE exam is desirable.Experience managing bridge projects and tracking financial performance of projects.Demonstrated leadership ability.Extensive experience with the design of different bridge components including superstructures, substructures and foundations is required.Candidate must possess advanced technical proficiency, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving ability.Experience executing engineering designs with aid of software such as OpenBridge, MDX, RISA, MIDAS or equivalent.Knowledge of CADD software including Bentley MicroStation.EEO/Disabled/Veterans Job Field: Civil EngineeringJob Type: ExperiencedSchedule: Full-timeTravel: Yes, 50 % of the Time
