Pharmacy Manager Location: Laguna Niguel, CA Job Summary Provides empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding the effective use of medications and drug interaction awareness. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. Ensures prescribed medications are compiled, reviewed, dispensed, and verified accurately according to regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Manages an efficient pharmacy workflow and improves pharmacy financials, inventory management, and patient experience. Oversees pharmacy staff performance, engagement, training, coaching, and formal performance management initiatives. Job Responsibilities Patient Experience Engages patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves patient issues in a timely manner and answers questions to ensure a positive experience. Models customer service best practices for all team members. Connects with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services. Leads efforts to enhance patient experience by increasing awareness of healthcare services. Participates and assists in community events as requested. Operations Counsels patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, etc. Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. Ensures compliance with regulations, company policies, and standards. Oversees staff scheduling, role assignment, and workflow efficiencies. Handles opening/closing duties and shift changes. Applies Good Faith Dispensing policy and controlled substance laws. Collaborates on new strategic business opportunities. Maintains knowledge of pharmacy systems, billing, and inventory management. Ensures accurate insurance claims processing and resolves related issues. Conducts clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing. Manages maintenance, housekeeping, and pharmacy layout improvements. Prepares required records and reports per state and federal laws. People & Performance Management Collaborates on pharmacy staff hiring and disciplinary actions. Establishes expectations, goals, and teamwork promotion. Monitors staff improvements and implements rewards programs. Observes high potential staff and plans career progression. Addresses employee relations concerns and maintains morale. Training & Personal Development Maintains required licensing/credentialing/certification. Stays current with pharmacy-related journals and Walgreens publications. Completes education credits and training modules. Seeks professional development and feedback. Communications Supports Store Manager by communicating corporate health and wellness information. Business Performance Management Analyzes performance data including financials, customer service, and inventory. Manages asset protection and inventory oversight. Identifies performance trends and improvement opportunities. Business Planning Develops relationships with local medical community. Promotes pharmacy business growth opportunities. Supports health and wellness outreach. External Basic Qualifications BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D from an accredited institution. Current pharmacist licensure in the district states. Certified Immunizer or willingness to become one within 90 days. At least 1 year of pharmacy experience (prescription filling, record keeping, compliance, operations, software, billing). Experience with state and federal controlled substance laws. Minimum 3.0 rating on leadership behaviors (if applicable) and no written disciplinary actions in last 12 months (internal only). Preferred Qualifications Supervisory experience directing pharmacy staff. At least 6 months experience with Walgreens Co. Minimum 3.7 rating on leadership behaviors (internal only).
