Through our Every Child Foster & Adoption Ministry, Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina is able to train and equip families to become licensed foster care families and adoptive families. We also partner with churches to train and license families within the congregation or to begin their own foster and adoption ministries. Foster Care Supervisor Summary The Foster Care Supervisor performs duties related to the Human Services Ministry that enable foster homes to function at the highest level of competency in carrying out the Agency's policies, procedures, and programs. Responsibilities include teamwork, group work, case management, community resource coordination, and communication with families and custodians. Qualifications Minimum of 23 years of age. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field from an accredited University or Seminary. Two years of experience working with the population served. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate an agency vehicle for transporting children. Capability to manage, plan, organize, implement, monitor, and maintain agency programs while adhering to accreditation standards and N.C. licensing requirements. Meet general qualifications for employment as outlined in the institution's personnel policies. Respect cultural diversity of children and strive to create positive relationships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervision Prepare for and participate in regular supervisory conferences. Participate in 90‑day and annual staff performance evaluations. Keep supervisors informed of the current status of all work responsibilities. Policies and Procedures Operate within the guidelines of the job description and Program of Intentionalized Services. Represent the agency’s philosophy, purpose, and programs to groups, individuals, and referral agencies professionally and objectively. Professionalism/Teamwork Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to supervise the foster home program and work as a member of the team. Support the roles of other team members and communicate necessary information for foster home decision making. Assist the team in providing daily care, maintaining a positive environment, and participating in team and staff meetings. Monitor and research program effectiveness, conduct foster parent training, and lead therapeutic milieu creation. Collaborate closely with Division of Social Services Social Worker and respect diversity among staff and children. Participate in the agency’s Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) program as needed. Clients/Foster Families Facilitate FAC, admission, intake, transfer, and discharge conferences. Lead child and family conferences, coordinating and implementing Plans of Service and reviews. Provide support, encouragement, recognition, and problem‑solving for families. Manage family contacts, emergency contacts, financial accounting, scheduling, behavior documentation, consents, in‑home plans, and reporting of medical, school, and daily events. Establish relationships with community resources and assist families in accessing them. Support medical, dental, and other appointments for youth in care. Clarify BCH’s Family Systems approach and conduct routine home visits. Recruit foster families and conduct foster home application studies in line with policies and licensing standards. Submit all required paperwork for initial licensing and renewals. Orient and train new foster parents on roles, responsibilities, and expectations. Provide ongoing training for state and accreditation requirements and special needs. Be available to foster parents on a regular‑scheduled and emergency basis to address issues and crisis needs. Help foster parents secure community resources as needed. Record Keeping Maintain all client files and documentation of case activities, including admission documents, MIGS, plans of service, reviews, dictations, crisis plans, outcome measurements, consents, progress notes, transfer and discharge memos, court reports, aftercare plans, and more. Knowledge and Training Continuously update knowledge and skills in foster care trends. Maintain all required certifications for training foster parents. Apply professional knowledge effectively to fulfill position responsibilities. Demonstrate current knowledge of family systems, individuals, and groups. Develop external resources to support services as needed. Participate in Family Systems Trainings. Equipment Operate standard office machines such as copier, computer, fax, and calculator. Use Google Email, Excel, and Word. Language Skills Read, write, and complete necessary documentation. Present information effectively and respond to questions from clients, customers, resources, and the general public. Mental / Visual / Auditory Demand Interpret a variety of written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions and draw conclusions. Contact with Others Maintain regular contact with colleagues, outside individuals, and groups; represent Baptist Children's Homes of NC, Inc. positively. Manage external interactions with utmost care to protect the agency’s image. Confidential Data Comply with agency policies, procedures, and HIPAA regulations concerning client information, including day‑to‑day care, case records, family and medical information.
