DIRECTOR OF ART SCHOOL AND GALLERY
The New Atelier, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, in St. James, Long Island, New York, seeks a visionary leader as Director to oversee a school of art and gallery.
Qualifications :
● Strong organizational and administrative skills with working knowledge in the nonprofit sector.
● Experience in art curricula, curating exhibitions, and event planning
● Strong interpersonal and networking skills
● Background in art/art history preferred
Responsibilities :
● Oversee instructors, staff of five, and volunteers
● Manage budgets, while driving revenue
● Collaborate with The Atelier’s board of trustees
● Attend monthly board meetings/ schedule and lead weekly staff meetings
Expectations:
● Serve as the primary ambassador for the Atelier
● Develop partnerships, attend local community events, and build donors
● Fundraising and grant writing for the art school and gallery
● Provide an overall creative vision for the future of The Atelier
Summary: The Director of The New Atelier Art School and Gallery oversees educational programming and exhibition curation, requiring a blend of artistic vision and business acumen. They manage staff, budgets, and community partnerships, while driving revenue and curating exhibitions to build a vibrant, sustainable creative environment.
Compensation/hours: This is a full-time position. Candidates with a wide range of experiences and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
