Saint Peter’s Church Job Description: Children’s Ministry Director/Pastor (Birth-Elementary) SCOPE To be a community following Jesus for the sake of the Lowcountry and beyond. RESPONSIBILITIES As a part of the Family Ministries Team, this position is designed to lead the children of Saint Peter’s Church into the way of Jesus, while equipping parents and volunteers to form them. SUNDAYS Oversee and cast vision for the ministry to children, ranging from birth through elementary age. Develop and encourage a core leadership team to support the vision of ministry to children. Partner with part-time children’s pastors to recruit and equip teams of ministry volunteers and create systems that provide for their nurture and equipping (informational/training meetings, appreciation, clear communication). Lead the team in implementing all components of Sunday morning ministry including: Create lesson plans from our curriculum (this should be symbiotic with other children’s staff) Create, utilize, and implement parent resources Create and prepare all weekly materials and needed classroom supplies. Support the ministries of our church by networking these ministries with childcare providers and resources as needed. EVENTS Lead and implement opportunities for parents of children birth-kindergarten (e.g. Kid’s Club, Father-Daughter Dance, VBS) Participate in and help develop pathways for family discipleship through programs and events such as Advent, Lent, Easter, Baptism, First Communion & Promotion Sunday. MISCELLANEOUS Oversee the maintenance and cleaning of all classrooms and the purchase of ministry supplies Support and encourage East Cooper Christian teachers where necessary and appropriate Availability for hospital and home visitation for children when appropriate. Availability for pastoral care for parents when appropriate. High competencies in administration, leadership of relevant staff, and organization. Competent in recruiting, developing, and equipping volunteer leaders. Availability and presence on Sunday mornings to execute the ministry and to respond to the needs of children and families. Relationally oriented with a heart focused toward children and family discipleship. Team player: Humble and team oriented in leadership style, fully participating in the overall leadership of our Church as a member of the Saint Peter’s Staff. Carefully plan and manage the Children’s Ministry Budget. Report Contract Labor scheduled dates and pay to Saint Peter’s Bookkeeper. COMPENSATION DETAILS Full time salary (45 hours) to be determined based on relevant experience and budget Sunday is considered a work day (Sabbath is subjective to the employees desire).
